A five-year analysis of Statistics Denmark’s tables compares sexual-offence guilty-person entries by country of origin, using residents aged 15–79 as the population denominator.

The comparison and its threshold
This ranking uses Statistics Denmark tables STRAFNA4 and FOLK1C for 2021–2025. To avoid rankings dominated by very small groups, countries qualify only if their average population aged 15–79 is at least 10,000 residents.
The numerator is annual guilty-person entries for “Sexual offenses, total.” The denominator is the average resident population aged 15–79 from the same country of origin, measured at 1 January each year. The figures below are annual averages per 1,000 residents in that age range.
The published ranking
| Origin | Annual rate per 1,000 | Ratio to Danish origin |
|---|---|---|
| Syria | 1.000 | 4.74× |
| Somalia | 0.833 | 3.95× |
| Iraq | 0.674 | 3.20× |
| Afghanistan | 0.663 | 3.14× |
| Lebanon | 0.601 | 2.85× |
| Iran | 0.460 | 2.18× |
| Morocco | 0.436 | 2.07× |
| Danish origin | 0.211 | 1.00× |
How the rates were calculated
Annual rate = average annual guilty-person entries ÷ average population aged 15–79 × 1,000. Equivalently, sum the five annual entries and divide by the sum of the five annual population observations, then multiply by 1,000.
The comparison ratio is the origin-group rate divided by the Danish-origin rate. For example, 1.000 ÷ 0.211 is approximately 4.74. Ratios shown in the original analysis use the underlying figures; rounding displayed rates may produce small differences.
Reading the result carefully
The units are annual guilty-person entries, not five-year unique-person counts: a person can appear in more than one year. Restricting the denominator to ages 15–79 does not fully adjust for differences in age distribution or sex within that range. The ranking is descriptive and does not establish why the rates differ.
Country of origin is not an individual’s religion. The tables do not identify religion, and group-level figures cannot determine an individual’s behaviour. This age-restricted ranking also differs from the separate all-age denominator analysis on this site.
